Chiropractic care addresses the function of your joints and your nervous system. A subluxation is a restriction of the normal range of motion of any given joint. A Chiropractic adjustment treats the subluxation by delivering a dynamic thrust of specific velocity, amplitude, and direction into the restricted joint complex, thereby restoring normal function.

Dr. Guerriero and Dr. Morgan utilize Diversified Adjusting methods which means that he has a variety of ways to adjust any given joint dependent upon patient tolerance, size, age, mobility, and a number of other factors. These corrections of joint dysfunction are safe and painless.

It is important to correct subluxations for a number of reasons:

    • Pain – When a joint is not working properly, your body sends you pain messages. Your nerves will also tell the muscles in the area to tighten in order to brace the dysfunctional joint. Now you have pain from the joint and from the muscles in the area that are working too hard for too long. Adjust the joint and you remove the pain as well as the muscle tension.
    • Arthritis – Joints that do not function properly degenerate more quickly. Just as a car that needs and alignment will wear tires down faster, the same is true of the joints in your body. Orthopedic research has shown that joints that are limited in their range of motion will begin to degenerate within 72 hours. This is why orthopedists get people out of casts much quicker than they used to.
    • Injury – Poor joint function also interferes with an athlete’s biomechanics. It makes motion less efficient, makes muscles work harder than they would otherwise have to, leading to a decrease in endurance, and a higher incidence of injury.
    • Your Nervous System – Correcting the function of the joints of your spine leads to a healthy nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is our body’s “autopilot.” It directs and controls all of the body functions you never have to think about. Subluxations amplify the sympathetic or stress portion of this autopilot, causing an alarm reaction or a fight or flight response. While this type of stress is okay during public speaking (you do not run the risk of falling asleep at the podium) it creates tremendous wear and tear on the body if it stays in this state indefinitely. The opposite part of your auto–pilot, the parasympathetic portion, is responsible for repair and maintenance of your body, proper digestion, proper circulation, and your immune system, to name a few items. This resting/repairing part of your autopilot can not function properly if your body is in a state of stress. Chiropractic adjustments gently and specifically remove the cause of this harmful disturbance to your autopilot’s function.

    Active Release Techniques® (ART®)

Active Release Techniques® soft tissue management system is designed to break the cumulative injury cycle that is the cause of painful soft tissue injuries. Soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia) can find themselves in a vicious cycle from repetitive motions, trauma, poor biomechanics, poor ergonomics, or poor posture. The result of this cycle is increased tension, decreased circulation, increased friction, and scar tissue formation. What this means for the individual is pain with activity, decreased strength, decreased endurance, decreased mobility, and a self perpetuating issue.

ART® treatments are designed to break this cycle and restore pain free function quickly. Treatment with ART® is a combination of assessment of function of the involved soft tissues and hands on treatments utilizing patient motion to restore circulation, remove adhesions and scar tissue, and facilitate proper motion of the injured structures. The result is a rapid recovery from many common injuries including tendonitis, rotator cuff syndrome, patellar tracking syndrome, iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, tennis or golfer’s elbow, and joint pain in most instances. ART® treatments are also designed to locate and remove the causes of many common peripheral nerve entrapments such as carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, and ulnar neuropathy to name a few.

The Active Release Technique® is function and results oriented, and is so unique that it has been granted a medical patent. ART® treatments are commonly sought after by many professional and Olympic athletes due to the quick recovery time and dramatic improvements in function and performance. However, the treatments are equally effective regardless of your age, occupation, or activity level.

    Total Body Modification (TBM)

TBM is a treatment method that is used to discover and normalize states of stress in the body through functional neurology. Areas that are stuck in a constant state of stress tax the body and interfere with normal function. TBM treatments use the body’s natural reflexes and reactions to restore normal function and physiology. The combination of natural diagnostics, dietary and nutritional recommendations, and clearing the body of unnecessary stress on its systems is very effective for many common conditions such as allergies, food sensitivities, digestive issues, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia. This type of treatment is gentle and its effects and approach are similar to acupuncture, although TBM does not use needles to accomplish its effects. TBM provides methodology for addressing nutritional, structural, and environmental issues. TBM is designed to address the causes of your physiological malfunctions whether or not they have begun to create symptoms.
